HIRSCH’S - TAKING THEIR HOMESTORE CONCEPT TO THE CAPE Part 2
After being promised that this is the next best thing to hit Cape Town since Jan van Riebeek’s landing, I’m sure you’re all wondering what all the fuss is about?
With development now well under way, the new “kid on the block” , HIRSCH’S Home Store, is only months away from completion at their site in Milnerton. It is situated on the corner of Koeberg and Racecourse Road and will service the new developing area of Table Bay. Said Hirsch’s Operation Manager Margaret Hirsch “We are delighted to be moving to the Cape and loved the spot with its close access to the City and the Freeways. We feel that we have a unique operation which we are looking forward to creating in Cape Town and we assure Capetonians of an exciting new shopping experience.”
Hirsch’s new Milnerton branch is scheduled to open on April 1, 2012. The project is being managed under the leadership of Key Projects. Isipani Construction are the main contractor, the Architect is Elphick Proome, QS is FWJK and engineering by Sutherland, and the team have, in a very short space of time, conceptualised, designed and procured the project to meet the Hirsch’s demanding programme.
Principal Agent of Key Projects, Markus Kaps pointed out that the Hirsch’a new flagship store will comprise over 5,000 sqm of retail and warehouse space using the latest construction technology to achieve a very tight programme. “The development will benefit the environment by ensuring that stormwater entering the municipal system will be cleaned of contaminants and the planned landscaping will also enhance the buildings in line with Royal Ascot’s high standards.” he said. The use of a precast wall system will accelerate the works to meet the April 2012 deadline for opening.
